Germination
Cyanotype relief ink
With these artworks I'm hoping to highlight the in-between
spaces that I inhabit. Relating to code switching, and relating to
the liminal space that I have created within myself, these works
act as a signifier to me still being a seed in germination. I'm still
not in my full element. As I look in I'm still not out, and as I look
outward the growth gets stunted by my inward state of being.
Out-In and In-Out. I am still in between being fully out. I
currently exist before the past, and before the future between
what's to be no longer, and before the not yet of my existence.
These artworks explore my personal endeavor currently living a
closeted and out life and the multiplicities and complex nature of
this experience that not only includes my queer experience but
that of others queer experience. I am hoping that these artworks
discuss that in between space where I am no longer suppressing
my queerness but I’m still not where I’m meant to be. The
artworks represent this physical manifestation of a want, and also
the physical manifestation of a loss.
